Since 2021, a bright yellow spray-painted wire sculpture by visual artist David Bade has been standing in the green grass near the entrance to the Kunsthal. The work was installed in 2021 by Kunsthal Rotterdam during their annual summer program All You Can Art, where under the guidance of Bade and Tirzo Martha everyone gets the chance to make art, learn and discover. The Kunsthal then purchased the work. The sculpture shows an abstract figure ready to fight or flee. Flight or Fight (or the other way around, Fight or Flight) is a reflex that occurs as an automatic defense mechanism in humans and animals when there is acute danger. According to the artist, you can also interpret this as a fight that you are going to have against yourself or against your prejudices.
