This sculpture with the title For you my love © by the Rotterdam artist Hulya Yilmaz has stood at the entrance of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen since 2003. Due to lengthy renovation work at the museum, the artwork had to be stored in the museum depot. BKOR, together with the artist, conducted research into a new place in public space and found this temporary location on the Westerkade. A small celebration of this new location took place on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. For you my love © is exemplary of the spatial work of artist Hulya Yilmaz, in which she combines weight and lightness. In her installations, she combines soft and delicate materials with powerful forms. This sculpture, with its dark color, also possesses this robustness. The bronze skin reveals the texture of her working materials, giving the impression of an organic and more fragile skin. The work explores symmetry, form, and mass, drawing inspiration from biology. The work was acquired by the Willem van Rede Fund Foundation. The assets of grain merchant and passionate collector Willem van Rede (1880-1953) were transferred to this fund by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.
