There is a public library in Rozenburg Reading girl of bronze on a thick brick book made by Leo van Oudheusden. Van Oudheusden has taken different paths as a sculptor, from reliefs and bronzes in the 1960s, to more spatial designs in the 1980s. In his designs he made combinations of sculptures as the centre of a spatial composition, using environmental materials such as paving and stone. For the public library he collaborated with architect Arie Kasbergen. On a large brick book sits a bronze sculpture of a girl. The design of the facade and the book was carried out in collaboration with a brick factory. Van Oudheusden worked with a glass studio to make the thickly cast glass windows. The bronze statue, the paving, the facade ornaments and the windows form a single whole. The walls behind the statue (also diagonally around the corner) have a wavy brick pattern and octagonal windows. The pattern shows covers of books, as they stand in the cupboard; every now and then one is at an angle.
