In 1964 Kees Timmer designed this tube plastic for an electrical engineering school in Amsterdam. The three vertical shapes in the sculpture possibly symbolize the three disciplines within the school. But the abstract constructivist performance of the work makes it possible to link it to many other meanings. This tube plastic has been nicknamed 'Giraffes'. The old school building was demolished and former director Jan Fokker approached CBK Rotterdam to give the statue a second chance. At the same time, Ons Park was thoroughly tackled and it was decided in 2 to relocate the 'Giraffes' in a beautiful green environment. On the Noordereiland it is an artistic counterpart to the equally modern-constructivist Hef. The coating and installation have been chosen in such a way that the image comes into its own optimally and the image is the crowning achievement of Ons Park, which was redesigned in 2015.
