Intersection (1989) Frans Hage
This piece of art represents a steak that is cut through by a large steel knife. The steak is made of ceramic, the knife is made of stainless steel. The title of this artwork is Intersection and was made by artist Frans Hage. The sculpture refers to the history of the neighborhood. It stands opposite the place where the abattoir used to be and serves as a monument for all Crooswijkers who have worked in the abattoir. At the end of the eighties, the slaughterhouse was demolished together with a number of houses. People in Crooswijk do not speak of steak, but of pork chops. Intersection has been realized by the urban renewal fund in Crooswijk.
Frans Hage (Zierikzee, 1948) followed a course from 1967 to 1973 at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. Hage draws, paints and is an abstract and figurative sculptor. He has been portraying vintage cars since 2000.
