cornucopia (2014) Arno Coenen & Iris Roskam

About the artwork

Not the outside but inside lights up of Rotterdam's most photographed architecture icon, the Markthal, a design by Winy Maas from the architectural firm MVRDV. The emphasis is on a ceiling-filling artwork by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. They made a giant digital 'ceiling painting'. The cornucopia is a colorful, but almost unreal still life, in which fruit, vegetables and flowers symbolize the temptations of paradise (and the Market Hall). Mothership was an adviser and producer of the artwork on behalf of Provast. The Market Hall was opened on October 1 2014 by Queen Máxima.
