The old school building of the Wolfert Dalton on the Argonautenweg in Hillegersberg - Schiebroek will be demolished, but the works of art by the Rotterdam artist Louis van Roode will be preserved. This week it became famous concrete relief (1962) by Van Roode lifted from the facade with two cranes. For the restoration, the 100-ton facade was sawn loose earlier last week. The work is now on the construction site where it is being restored. In 2025, the relief will be placed in its final new location at the entrance to the new building for Mytylschool de Brug.

Another work by Van Roode was present in the school building, a glass-in-concrete window (1962). That work was previously removed from the building and will return after restoration to the central hall of the new Wolfert Dalton.

In recent years, the municipality of Rotterdam, main contractor BAM Bouw en Techniek and restorer MeestersIn have worked together to preserve the concrete relief for future generations. BKOR was closely involved in the preliminary process and acted as advisor and expert in the field of the oeuvre of the Rotterdam artist Louis van Roode. For example, BKOR had previously reinstalled another work by the artist. The abstract mural Untitled (1961), which the artist made for a waiting room in the former Dijkzigt hospital, was given a new purpose by BKOR in 2022 in the foyer of the Willem Burgerzaal of de Doelen.
