In the night from Wednesday 10 October to Thursday 11 October are some parts of the artwork Mother and child (2001) from sculptor Carel Visser. It concerns some horizontal parts, the 'whisk', and pieces of the top. The crime has been reported and the theft is under further investigation. In connection with the repair work, the sculpture will be temporarily removed from the sculpture terrace on the Westersingel. It is still unknown how long the restoration of the statue will take.
