On Friday, June 12, we are organizing a Friday Night Art Walk from Delfshaven to Keilewerf/M4H as part of Rotterdam Architecture Month. Our special guest this time is Sofie van Brunschot, the founder of Buildings by Women, a platform that makes the work of female architects more visible. Together with art guide Anne-Marie Ros, she takes you on a crossover walk between architecture, art, and public space.

Specifically for this route, Sofie made a selection of buildings by female architects who helped shape the face of Rotterdam, often without their names becoming known to the general public. Along the way, she discusses the work of Ineke Hulshof, Marja Haring, Helen Zhang, and Estelle Barriol, among others, and how the work of female architects remained underexposed for a long time. Anne-Marie Ros also invites us to look at artworks along the route from a different perspective. We take an in-depth look at the striking concrete sculpture by Lucien den Arend, the graphic facade art by Kees Timmer, and the early reconstruction art by Ian Pieters. Neon work also makes an appearance along the route. The right to right/wrong by Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson, a work that prompts a conversation about visibility, public space, and who gets a place in the city. We end at the flexible Materialenwerf in MH4, where material, reuse, and circular thinking form a crucial part.

Afterwards, we will raffle off an art publication by BKOR among the participants. There will also be an opportunity to chat together over a drink (at your own expense).
