On Friday October 10th we will be organizing the 26the edition of the Friday Night Art WalkOur special guest this time is Yvonne de Jong, owner of Root Gallery and co-organizer of The New Current and Rotterdam Art Week. As always, the walk will be led by art guide Anne-Marie Ros.
During this tour of public art, Yvonne takes us through Oude Noorden, where she shares her fascination with a neighborhood that has been strongly shaped in recent decades by the presence of artists and creative initiatives. The route follows a selection of works by artists such as Madeleine Berkhemer, Marcelle van Bemmel, Ro Heilbron, Charlotte Schleiffert, and Eddy Kaijser.
In an hour and a half, we'll walk through a historic neighborhood where art and city history intersect naturally. Yvonne will guide us through places where artists played a role in the neighborhood's development and through stories that demonstrate how art can create space for encounters and innovation. She says: "Het Oude Noorden feels intimate and layered: a neighborhood where the influence of artists is visible not only in studios and presentation spaces, but also in the streets themselves." Afterward, we'll raffle a BKOR publication among the participants, and there will be an opportunity to chat over drinks (at your own expense).

About our art routes
In recent years, BKOR has developed various art routes that lead past many works of art spread throughout the city. All routes are offered as a PDF in Dutch and English via this website, but a foldable map is also still available for free at Rotterdam Tourist Information on Stationsplein. The routes have also been made accessible for your mobile phone without having to download an app. Go to www.bkor.nl/routes, select the route you want to walk or cycle and see where you are on the map.
