The artwork will be placed on Wednesday, April 24 at 16 p.m For you my love © by the Rotterdam artist Hulya Yilmaz celebrated at his temporary location on the Westerkade. The statue has stood at the entrance of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen since 2003. Due to lengthy renovation work, the artwork was stored in the museum depot. BKOR has conducted research with the artist into a new place in public space. After the renovation of Museum Boijmans, the sculpture will return to its original location.
About the image
With For you my love © (2003), Yilmaz tries to give shape to the immaterial – the air in the interior space – in relation to the material used. This elusive element influences the whimsical exterior of the bronze statue, which contains implicitly recognizable elements that are reminiscent of the natural growth processes of a plant or animal. The abundance of possible interpretations makes it impossible to name the sculpture exactly; she seems to blend effortlessly into her surroundings.
For you my love © is exemplary of the artist's spatial work, in which she combines heaviness and lightness. In her installations she combines soft and delicate materials with powerful shapes. This sculpture also has that robustness with its dark color. A weave of Yilmaz's work material can be seen in the bronze surface, so that an organic and more vulnerable skin also appears to be present here. With the title For you my love © she pays tribute to her mother. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has the artwork on permanent loan from the Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE). The work was purchased at the time by the Willem van Rede Fund Foundation.
