The portrait of Multatuli, made by Mathieu Ficheroux, is like new again! Simultaneously with the renovation of the building on Van Oldenbarneveltstraat, to which the work is attached, the list of Multatuli The work has been restored and the work has been cleaned by Restoration Workshop Schiedam and the Institute for Restoration and Decoration. The painting hung from 1975 in the Mauritsstraat opposite bookshop 'W. Pieterse in Poezie' (the W. stood for Woutertje, a character from Multatuli's novel 'Woutertje Pieterse'). After the demolition of this building, the work moved with the bookshop to its current location in 1985. In 1998 it was decided to completely renew the portrait, which had been damaged by weather and wind, by Advertising Atelier Leo Mineur.
