Opening: 14/08/2020 - 15/08/2020
Location: Veerlaan / Sumatraweg, Katendrecht

The new mural will be on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August Tulip or Harmony Honey from Evelyn Taocheng Wang celebrated with the program Happiness & Harmony 幸福 美满.

Work Bamboo and rock by Chinese artist Li de Cai, the very first Chinese mural in Europe, has been removed after it turned out to be irreplaceable. BKOR asked the Rotterdam visual artist Evelyn Taocheng Wang to create a new work for the ornate 19th-century frame. This job Tulip or Harmony Honey belongs in her original series Vanitas and can now be seen at Veerlaan, corner of Sumatraweg. The painting has been reproduced by Advertising Atelier Leo Mineur.

The new painting Tulip or Harmony Honey is part of a series of murals in old ornamental frames spread across Katendrecht. In total there are ten paintings who all have a relationship with the neighborhood. Evelyn Taocheng Wang (China, 1981) is an internationally celebrated artist. She works in Rotterdam and has won several prizes, including the Dolf Henkesprijs in 2019. With her work in the original Chinese painting technique, she continues the tradition in this specific facade frame.

On Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August we will celebrate the new work with a special indoor and outdoor program Happiness and Harmony Happy and happy at Verhalenhuis Belvédère: workshops, performances, food, talks & karaoke with, among others, Fenmei Hu, Yiyu Zhao, Yin Kohar, Wei Tong, Tak Pin Lam, Alexandra van Dongen, Studio Maky & Non Native Native.
