Location: Walgenbach art & books Rotterdam, Gouwstraat 56 C
To celebrate the closing of the exhibition by visual artist Wim Konings, Walgenbach Art & Books Rotterdam is organizing a reading performance. During this afternoon, fifteen fans of Wim Konings' work will contribute Sorrydiary their favorite passages for.
The artwork has been on the Coolsingel since May 28, 2011 It's Never Too Late to Say Sorry by the Scandinavian artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset. For fifteen years, Konings has brought the artwork to life every Wednesday at exactly noon by shouting the magical message "It's never too late to say sorry!" through the large, shiny megaphone. In his first year as a performer, he kept a diary: for 366 days, he recorded everything he saw, just before, during, and after his shout. Both the book 366 Sorry Reports Wim's work and the artwork by Elmgreen & Dragset – both created on the initiative of Sculpture International Rotterdam – now have many fans.
This unique combination of sculpture, performance, book, and engaged fans, and of course the closing of the exhibition, will be celebrated with a reading performance. During this afternoon, fifteen fans will recite their favorite passages from the Sorry-diary for, in an ongoing series. Dees Linders, former head of SIR and creator of the concept, will open the reading series. Other fans include Geerten ten Bosch, Hein Bouwmeester, Corrie Brands, Arthur Bueno, Simon Davies, Joseph Deuss, Sannetje van Haarst, Ernest van der Kwast, Marieke van der Lippe, Ove Lucas, Lauran Schijvens, Landa van Vliet, and Ben Zegers. Wim Konings, the "real" performer himself, will conclude.
