Inspired by the work of artist Ro Heilbron, artist Erico Smit also wants to portray people in this mural, emphasizing the everyday. The painting, which consists of a subtle background with expressive lines, shows two friends in conversation. Communication is essential to move forward and ultimately be who we want to be. This painting was applied during the project Ro!Source of Salvation!, an initiative of Opperclaes in the context of 150 years of colonial and slavery past. The aim of the project is to honor and preserve the legacy of the Surinamese artist Ro Heilbron (1938-2014).
