This red granite fountain consists of a column with an animal on top, which spits water into a round basin. The work becomes Frog fountain mentioned, but if you look closely, the animal is not a frog but a salamander or chameleon. The column is engraved with fluting and round geometric shapes. The fountain was donated to the municipality of Rotterdam in 1928 by Mr JA Hooykaas, who designed the fountain himself. The work has a clear function for visitors to the Kralingse Bos, because the basin is mainly used by walkers, who let their dogs drink water. The Frog fountain stands at one of the entrances to the forest, opposite the Kralingerhoutflat.
