For you my love © (2003) Hulya Yilmaz
This sculpture with the title For you my love (c) is located in the depot due to the renovation of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, but was previously located to the left of the entrance to the museum. The image is exemplary of the spatial work of artist Hulya Yilmaz, in which she combines heaviness and lightness. In her installations she combines soft and delicate materials (textiles) with powerful shapes. This image with its dark color also has that robustness. In the bronze skin you can see the weave of her working materials, so that an organic and more vulnerable skin also appears to be present here. The work is about symmetry, shape and mass, with sources of inspiration from biology. This autonomous sculpture fits well with the entrance to the museum. Due to the renovation of the museum, the artwork has been temporarily placed in a depot. The work was purchased by the Willem van Rede Fund Foundation; The assets of grain trader and passionate collector Willem van Rede (1880-1953) have been placed in this fund by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.
Sculptor, photographer and installation artist Hulya Yilmaz (Adana, Turkey, 1963) went through the AKI in Enschede and then followed the Ateliers' 63 and studied in Nice. She has done some foreign artist-in-residencies in France and in China. Among other things, she makes large sculptures in which the dimensions of her body indicate the maximum formats of the abstract result.
