For you my love © (2003) Hulya Yilmaz
This sculpture with the title For you my love (c) was purchased by the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum and is on the left of the entrance to the museum. It is exemplary of the spatial work of Hulya Yilmaz, in which she combines gravity and lightness. In her installations she combines soft and delicate materials (textiles) with powerful forms. This image with its dark color also has that robustness. In the bronze skin you see the fabric of her working materials, which also seems to have an organic and more fragile skin here. The work is about symmetry, form, mass, with sources of inspiration from biology. This autonomous sculpture fits well with the entrance of the museum. Due to the renovation of the museum, the artwork has been temporarily placed in a depot.
Sculptor, photographer and installation artist Hulya Yilmaz (Adana, Turkey, 1963) went through the AKI in Enschede and then followed the Ateliers' 63 and studied in Nice. She has done some foreign artist-in-residencies in France and in China. Among other things, she makes large sculptures in which the dimensions of her body indicate the maximum formats of the abstract result.
