About the artwork

With the percentage scheme, this work of art by the Rotterdam artist Marianne Groen was developed during the construction of the Afrikaanderplein swimming pool. It is a humorous work with influences from pop art or minimal art from the 1960s and 1970s through the popular and basic shape of an arrow combined with a lightning bolt of bright colors. The eight-foot-tall concrete arrow stands upright on the sidewalk by the pool. The lightning bolt pattern is applied with yellow, red, blue and white glazed tiles on both sides of the arrow.
