Monday morning January 17, 2022 is the artwork Qwertz by the Viennese artist Franz West, placed back on the Eendrachtsweg. After a car hit the artwork at the end of 2019, Qwertz at the end of last year temporarily removed for restoration. The artwork consists of five monochrome colored, elongated rolls made of sheet steel. The rolls resemble enlargements of hand-rolled pieces of clay and have served as seating furniture on the left bank of the Westersingel since its completion in 2001. The statue was purchased to expand the International Sculpture Collection (IBC) of the municipality of Rotterdam, then Rotterdam Cultural Capital. Qwertz, the title West gave to this work has no meaning. Qwertz are the first six letters at the top left of a German keyboard. West wanted to use this invented word to evoke associations with existing words, so that visitors can give their own meanings to the object. look at here the video that Ciska Meister made of putting back Qwertz.
