On Sunday 13 February at 15.00 pm, Ove Lucas, director CBK Rotterdam, will unveil the new artwork Fountain Maashaven by Jeroen Jongeleen in the presence of the artist on location. The work was created during Maashaven Palace Studio, a temporary manifestation of Sculpture International Rotterdam that will take place between 20 January and 20 February in the area between Maashaven metro station and Het Gemaal op Zuid on Pretorialaan.

Fountain Maashaven is a point in the water of the harbor declared a work of art by Jongeleen, an 'object trouvé'. At unknown times of the day, it bubbles up from the depths like a well and is temporarily visible to pedestrians from the sidewalk. His fountain is an ode to the fringes of the city and does not try to pretend to be better: a work of art that cannot be encapsulated in city marketing as 'street art'. Fountain Maashaven will be included in SIR's image collection.

Prior to the unveiling, participants can participate in the free Afrikaanderwijk Wonder Tour† At 15.30 pm we will walk together to Het Gemaal op Zuid.

Between 16.00 pm and 17.00 pm, Jongeleen will go on during the third broadcast of Radio Palace Maashaven in conversation with Florian Cramer, lecturer 21st Century Visual Culture/Autonomous Practices at the Willem de Kooning Academy. The conversation is introduced by a spoken column by art historian and writer Sandra SmetsRadio Palace Maashaven #03 can be attended live at Het Gemaal op Zuid (max. 25 people, reservation is not necessary) and can be heard online at the same time via OperatorRadio.
