Untitled (1990) Dick Postema
This two-part sculpture is made of openwork rusted corten steel. Both the rust color and this old technique (also called ajour) refer to the past, while the abstraction clearly indicates the much more recent modern art. The statue was unveiled on 9 in March 1990 by then-mayor Bram Peper. This statue has been temporarily removed due to the renovation of the café around the corner. The statue then had to make way for a storage location for the building material, but was returned to its original location.
Dick or Dirk Postema (Rotterdam, 1952) studied from 1975 to 1979 at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. He is a sculptor, conceptual artist and screen printer.
