On Wednesday, May 30, 2023, it was exactly ten years ago that Mayor Aboutaleb de Wilhelminasteen unveiled on the Wilhelminapier. He did this through the time capsule In Memory Of Things To Come by Arnoud Holleman to seal in the replica of the Wilhelminasteen. In 2013 this sealing was accompanied by a great parade, many children of Katendrecht and fanfare Wilhelmina. The time capsule will be opened on May 30, 2135. Until then, every five years Wilhelminaday celebrated to keep the memory of the time capsule alive. The first was on May 30, 2014 Wilhelminaday celebrated, because that day the time capsule was exactly one year in the quay wall. On May 30, 2018, Wim Pijbes screwed the first lustrum sign onto the artwork. The second lustrum sign was raised last Wednesday by artist Olivier Scheffer, also known as 'the wild pruner', who brightens up the public space in an inimitable way with playful interventions. There are still 23 lustrum plates to go before the capsule reopens in 112 years!
